FOUR THINGS RIGHT NOW

The smartest shopping I did this autumn was two lined A-line skirts form Zara, the same skirt but in different colours. I've been wearing them all the time.

I found some coasters in Stockholm, matching the patterns and colours of our living room.

Since the renovation and move I have paid surprisingly many visits to Etola, where I haven't set my foot since mom was there bying plastic baskets, jars and such in the eighties. They are still all about plastic baskets and practical things for home, but they also have a lot of surprising and cute items nowadays! I got these small boxes for my sewing parnaphelia.

You can read an interview with us Itty-Bitties in the latest issue of Kotilääkäri :)

LOOKING AT MY OLD HOME BY THE KITCHEN TABLE OF MY NEW ONE

Early in spring my old flat was photographed for a magazine, which came out the other day. It feels so nostalgic and sad to look at those pictures now that I've moved away! Don't get me wrong, I like it very well here at the new place, the surroundings that reminds me of my childhood (but strangely not of my teenage years, when I lived near to where I live now, and hated everything around here), the flat that is getting ready soon and the whole environment itself. But it differs a lot from how it was in the inner city and I miss my old neighborhood (although not the speed freaks and aggressive alcoholics around the corner or the fact that it was nearly impossible to find a parking space when coming home form the night shift...)

Anyway, from time to time I get the request to show some pictures from home and many where the ideas and many were the days and weeks and months that I planned to do such a post - but I never got it done in the old place. It seems I have not really been able to blog about home before I'm just about to move away (like the last time I moved ) or after already doing so, like now -but here are the spreads that was shot from the previous place:

Pekka and Lulu made it into almost every picture. Very good posers.

I had an old window haning on my wall in the entrance but it did not fit the style of this flat so I'm going to put it up in Eddi's countryhouse when we start fixing it up over there, eventually.

MY old kitchen was so cute! (The new on however has the Smeg so it beats all my older ktichens on all levels.)

I have some organizing to do at home here now but I might even be able to post some pictures soon of how the flat has turned out :)

The article about my old flat is in Avotakka Magazine.

MUSIC VIDEO FOR A BAND

The Firsts : Chihuahua

Tinker Bell and I, along with Pepper Sparkles, were filmed for a music video. We are not actually performing for the video, or dancing to the song, but the clips were filmed at real gigs of ours. That's why it's not totally syncing with the music, but in general I think it works.

Tinker Bell is doing her Human Fly show in the video. You can't catch the giant bug scene though. And they filmed this number of mine, which is mostly a parody on fancy burlesque. And I go crazy in the end.

Where I work (harbour, and at home) there is no such thing as nsfw, but I don't know about your work - the video does contain some burlesque.

TUESDAY IS LITTLE WEDNESDAY

I'm tonight's guest on Lilla Onsdag on FST5. It's hosted by André and Thomas.

You can watch it online afterwards but only in Finland (or from a Finnish proxy, even though I've never succeeded watching other countries' shows that way...).

A 40 MIN LESSON IN FINNISH - AND BURLESQUE

(Long manicured nails and workwear don't go well together. Practically, that is.)

I talk about the contrast between burlesque and the harbour, among other stuff ( I babble on a lot, jeez!), in a documentary about the Finnish burlesque scene. It was shot over a year ago, but aired on TV4 this week. You can catch us backstage as well as members of Helsinki Burlesque / Hula Pirates crafting together, reflecting over burlesque in all its forms, as well as clips from acts in Helsinki and NY. (It's all in Finnish though so why not take it as a lesson in Finnish as well :)

View it here:
http://www.ruutu.fi/video?vt=video_episode&vid=202846

I'm not one hundred percent about weather it can be viewed from abroad so you might have to try it trough a proxy then.

LIFE IS SHORT AND FULL OF STUFF

(That's me quoting the wisdom of my friend and burlesque gal Jackie O's new superb tattoo).

But yeah life is full of stuff and here's what's up for the moment :

* I received some of the stuff I've ordered lately. Stuff makes me very happy in many ways. (Not all ways possible, but many.) Ordering online makes me guilty and excited at the same time and picking up the stuff makes me ridiculously happy; it brightens up rainy days or hectic on-the-verge-of-a-burnout periods.

* Yours truly gave her harbor boys a laugh some time ago by answering the question of "what to do when you're underdressed" (my first answer being that I, of course, never am underdressed for any occasion...) by phone to a reporter, while wearing yellow safety clothing, heavy boots, trailer grease from the knees up and dirt from the knees down, loading a ship. The related photoshoot was fun and taken some weeks earlier. (I look like I'm about to eat you and anyone else opening the mag at that spread).

* This sea of sequins, pearls and satin ribbon will turn into yet another burlesque outfit of mine which will premiere on Saturday. Fanicest fabric I've ever bought (I better do that number a lot now). That and a whole lot more can be seen at the L-World party at DTM. (And yes I know, most of you don't live around here and won't make it but I'm going to wear this outfit-to -be on a photoshoot coming up soon so this time there will be pics!)

BURLESQUE FOR THE MASSES!

Yey! We made it into the AGK Festival Top 10 and my face made it into the mag ;)

The yearly Helsinki Festival as well as Art goes Kapakka festival (which could be translated into something like “art hits the pub”), with lot and lots of happenings, kicks off about now. And we are part of it : ON the Night of Arts, Friday 21st, we’ll model for a Dr. Sketchy’s session togheter with some other local burlesque boys and girls in the window of a bookstore downtown (Suomalainen Kirjakauppa by Kolmen Sepän Patsas)! Afterwards we’ll do a show inside the store.

The day after, Saturday 22nd, it’s time for the Burlesque Goes Kapakka where we'll do two long sets in between the bands. You'll hear garage rock by Gunmolls & Gangster and rockabilly by Sweet Jeena and her Sweethearts. The evening starts with a burlesque-y pinup fashion show featuring Miranda Lingerie and accessories from Hoochie Mama Jane. (And us :)

Here's a sneak peak of the things you'll see...

There'll be some crazy Wild West action (Photo: Taina Kerttula)

And a trip to the Finnish country side some 50 years ago, with daisies, strawberreis and rautalanka! And much much more.

PSYCHORAMA / RADIO

Alright, it's time for me to pack my bag and head over to Tavastia for the Psychorama 09 -event. Hell-sinki will s-s-s-hake and shiver! It will be a blast I'm sure but as always before some bigger show I keep stressing with getting all things done and stuff needed packed... So that's it for now, have a nice weekend!

(I was on the radio earlier today talking about burlesque (in Swedish), you can listen to it here / and here. I also participated in this quiz they have and I won goddamit so it's next week there for me again then :)

CHASING A LINK

Yesterday we shipped two lions across the Finnish bay and today I went to my local supermarket to get some catfood and breakfast in my pyjamas because sometimes it's nice not to give a damn. But anyway, what I'm really after is link that I couldn't google up - a lot of Argentineans have commented they've seen me on Fashion TV over there and it's true that I was interviewed last summer. I'm really curious to see the clip myself so if anybody knows where it can be viewed please send me the link ok!

IN TRENDI

I have caught the flue and might give people the impression that I'm related to Rudolph and I still have a bunch of work to do so I'm mostly running around all incognito in my black uniform (no sneakers though, we have snow here so it's all winter boots now!)

So, I'll continue to rely on others to supply me with nicer pics than the ones I'd be capable of taking right now...

Our burlesque group is part of a story about burlesque in Finland in this month's Trendi magazine, togheter with Sally Vanilla, Minna Parika and Kirsi Nisonen.

I was actually sick at the photo shoot but it went quite well anyway, except for that the hairstylist didn't show up when we were to be shot! I did panic for a while since I hadn't touched my hair after the shower, it was a mess, and I only had a few of my mandatory bobby pins in my purse. Luckily I can manage pretty good by myself and with some borrowed hairspray there was no damage done :)

My black and gold corset in the photo is made by Tyra Therman btw.

(and funny enough, the hairstylist did fix some very nice glamour hair to some of the others who were photographed later but their picture is shot in such a way that the hair doens't even show...)

VOLT MAGAZINE

Me and my Burlesque group are featured in Volt magazine togehter with Olivia Rouge today! I think the pics are great (sadly though one of our girls is missing since she couldn't attend the shoot), and now you also get to see a bit of the outfits I made for us.
