SUMMER CHALLENGE LIST 2010.

I have created a list of things I want to achieve this summer and as I cross them off my list I am going to blog about them along the way. Keep reading to see my:

SUMMER CHALLENGE LIST 2010.

(you're loving the dramatic large title right?)

1. Cook a 3 course meal. (I have chosen this one because I never really cook anything apart from the occasional dish of pasta and my Dad even insists that that is just "heating stuff up, not proper cooking." So I am going to stretch my non existent cooking ability, pour over the Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, Delia Smith and Gordon Ramsey hard backs that are in my humble kitchen and cook a meal for my family. Wish me luck. This will be the hardest. I ain't no Julie or Julia (you should really see this film is you haven't already by the way, just for the hilarity of Meryl Streep who acts Julia Child as a constantly drunken French woman)

2. Learn one of my Grade 6 piano pieces. (I need to get going if my exam is in December)

3. Watch loads of inspiring film sand write a review for every single one I see.(SUGGESTIONS PLEASE?)

4. Read loads of inspiring books and write a review for every one I read (DITTO?)

5. Take loads of photographs with my trusty Canon 1000D and get myself back onto Flickr.

6. Go to London and get my summer wardrobe sorted. (So this one isn't exactly Nobel prize winning or even technically challenging but I have been working hard, I need a break, OKAY?)

7. Have a proper conversation with a French person when I go to France (NOTE TO SELF: THIS EXCLUDES SIMPLY SAYING "BONJOUR" OR "J'VOUDRAIS....." A PROPER CONVERSATION)

8. Get an article I have written published in a newspaper/magazine. (I always wanted to be a writer when I was older and now I am liking the sound of going into journalism so this would be an amazing first step to getting my name published in the Guardian- the ultimate dream)

9. Write a short story. Or a short film. Or a poem. Or an article. Just write something good really.

10. Get a job. (This probably is one of the most important things on the list although maybe not the funnest. My dream job would be to work behind the scenes on Glee- anyone make this happen, pretty please?)

11. Read a Shakespeare play. (I am thinking about being a proper nerd and reading all the books that are on the reading list for AS Level English Literature and Language early. Romeo and Juliet is one of them. I'm so going to get on this.)

12. Get my National Life Guard Award. (I told you that I was doing this a while back, can't wait to do it and then teach people how to swim.)

13. Get my exam results back. (And hopefully do well.)


I don't want to leave this list at 13, seeing as it's an unlucky number and all that but I can't think of anymore to add for now so I will just leave it at that.

MIDSUMMER'S DAY'S NIGHT

On the night of midsummers day I drove out to Eddi's house in the countryside after work. Eddi and his bother have taken over their family farm and run it besides their normal work. It's about a 50 min drive out of town - not that much maybe, but enough for me and oh-so-out in the country.

Muuh, see?

Quiet.

Wherever you go outside of town there are always something growing to put on your sandwich, or salad. Chive at least.

(Obvious problems keeping the sandwich together.)

One o clock in the night.

The next morning I drove back to the harbour. See how my magnificent car sparkles in the morning sun :)

Please tell me I am still blond!

Vor kurzem rief mich ein Kollege an, ob ich nicht Lust hätte für seine Freundin als Haar-Modell zu dienen. Da mein Ansatz sich bereits ziemlich ausgebreitet hat und ich bei der Angelegenheit volles Mitspracherecht hatte, sagte ich zu. Einen Tag davor blätterte ich dann mit einer Freundin in Magazinen rum um mir ein wenig Ideen zu suchen.  Ich entschied mich mal einen natürlicheren Ton zu wagen. Es sollte ein wenig aussehen wie bei Olivia Palermo. 

Die Friseure waren einverstanden und die Freundin machte sich ans Werk. Da das ein Workshop von Tony and Guy war, waren da auch zwei Profi-Friseure dabei (einer für den Schnitt und eine für die Farbe). Die beiden haben angeblich Erfahrungen bei wichtigen Fashionshows und Shootings gesammelt. Umso weniger kann mich mir erklären, dass die Frau, die beim färben helfen sollte einfach total danebengriff  (oder sich mit der Einwirkzeit verschätzt hat) und die Haare viel zu dunkel wurden. Dann kam noch eine hellere Tönung drüber und das Endergebnis war zwar natürlich aber immer noch ungewohnt dunkel :/ 

Anschließend wollte ich mir das gleich auf Fotos ansehen und darauf sah es total rötlich aus.

Ich gehöre einfach blond. Im ersten Moment habe Ich es auch gut verkraftet nun nicht mehr wasserstoffblond zu sein... bis jemand zu mir sagte: " Du hast dich also mal BRÜNETT gefärbt." 

Ich habe wirklich nichts gegen brünette Menschen, aber ICH gehöre blond. Brünett hat bei mir absolut nichts zu suchen. Nicht mal im Wortschatz!

Naja das ist nun eine Woche her und zum Glück hat sich die dunkle Tönung ein wenig herausgewaschen und nun sieht das alles wieder ganz gut aus. So wie es von Anfang an gedacht war. Diese Fotos sind direkt am Tag des Färbens entstanden und da ich euch diesen rot-schimmer nicht antun wollte, hab ich die Fotos auf Retro getrimmt ;)

ENG: Not long ago a friend called me and asked if I want to be a hair-model for his girlfriend. I agreed, because my hairline spread to much and they granted me a say in this matter. The day before I searched for ideas in magazines. I decided to try a natural shade. It ought to look a bit like Oliva Palermo's hair. The hairdressers agreed with my decision. It was a Workshop from Tony and Guys and two professional represantatives were there (a guy for the cut and a woman for the coloring). Allegedly they had long-time experiences from shootings and important fashion shows all around the world. All the less I can understand, that the woman dyed my hair to dark with the first try (maybe she forgot the time and washed it out too late). So afterwards she told my friend to put on a lighter shade of semi-permanent hair color. The result was very natural looking, but still too dark :/

After that I wanted to see my new hair on photos and it looked awfully reddish! I just have to be blond! In the first moment I have coped with my darker hair, but then somebody asked: "So you dyed your hair BRUNET for a change." 

I really don't have any problems with brunet people, but I have to be blond. Brunet has absolutely no place in my world. Not even in my vocabulary!

Well, ... this was a week ago and  the color washed off a bit and my blond hair is shining through. Everything is fine now. How it should have been from the beginning. I made this pictures right after the coloring and I don't wanted you to look at this reddish hair, so I edited the photos into a retro-look ;)

Black Fashion Models 2009

The current issue of Italian Vogue looks at how the fashion industry has moved past the rail thin negative size models to the lack of black models in the industry.

In a move that is causing the industry to take a deep look at itself the July issue of Italian Vogue features only black models shot by fashion photographer Steven Meisel. Mr. Meisel is also the photographer behind Madonna’s infamous 1992 book, “Sex”.

SAFARI DRESS, LIVINGROOM IN PROGRESS

Today I started my much longed for week off after seven days of working. We went furniture shopping after work and I had some problems with what to wear, or rather how to find it as most of my clothes are still in suitcases (except for the really pretty ones; they were the first things I brought over and hung up :). Eddi was wondering why I cared about what to wear when going chair hunting but after a week in the harbour in these "babies" looking like this, I do care a lot.
Plus, you always get better service when you look at least slightly impressive.

Flat is developing, but it takes time and I am oh so impatient. I'll head over to my accountant and then the beauty salon to cool down a bit.

Ok so we kind of looked like mermaids right?
Unfortunately evolution hasn't let us physically sprout a fish tail (yet...) so I think the maxi dresses did a good enough job of getting the idea across for me and the fabulous Xanthe May, oui?

I ended up going way over budget for my maxi dress because I tried so many on in so many shops but then as soon as I walked into Topshop I saw this one and BAM it had to be mine.

Also at the 'Under The Sea' themed birthday bash I spied a Loch Ness Monster (cleverly wearing red tartan and green face paint) a giant yellow submarine, a pearl, a drop of water, a wave, surfers, some Hawaiians and also some sailors and pirates.

What a night.

And then it's my leavers ball tomorrow marking the end of my compulsory education and officially kicking off my 10 week summer holdiay. Wahey.

I am even going to get my hair cut and my makeup done at MAC with my BFFL for it. I know, get me pulling out all the stops.

Hope all you lovely bloggers/blog readers are having lots of fun in the sunshine, I know its unusually sweltering in England at the moment.

Ethno dress

Endlich hatte ich mal Zeit mir genügend Zeit für neue Fotos zu nehmen. Die Fotos gefallen mir sehr gut. An einigen hab ich noch ein wenig mit Photoshop rumgespielt und die Farben geändert. Mit den Ergebnissen bin ich auch sehr zufrieden.

Das Kleid habe ich von einer Freundin geschenkt bekommen, weil sie nicht dazu kam es zu tragen. Bei mir ist es auf jeden Fall in guten Händen gelandet. Ich liebe den Ethno-Print auf dem Kleid. Dazu passen (meiner Ansicht nach) ganz viele Schmuckstücke (vor allem aus Holz).

Es ist so typisch für mich so viel Schmuck/Accessoires wie möglich gleichzeitig zu tragen.

Ich freue mich euch ankündigen zu können, dass ich ab nun öfter wieder posten werde. Ich habe nun wieder einige Fotos/Outfits die ich euch noch zeigen möchte, außerdem noch einige Werke aus der Uni. Ihr könnt nun also wieder häufiger vorbeischauen :)

ENG: Finally I had time to shoot new pictures. And I like them so much. I changed the color of a few with Photoshop. I'm content with these results too.

The dress is a present from a friend, who didn't get to wear it. But now it landed in good hands. I love the ethno print of the dress. (In my opinion) many pieces of jewelry (especially wooden) match very good.

It is so me to put on as much jewelry/ accessories as possible :)

I'm glad I can announce that I will post more often from now on. I have a few photos/ outfits to show to you, and then a few pieces from college. So you can stop by more often now.

Led Zeppelin is a great band and this is a great song for lying on the grass in the sunshine, having the wind mess up your hair, resting your hangover/melancholy/lazy afternoon away; feeling the summer.

...AND A LIL' SOMETHING FOR MYSELF

I've gone bazookas over the internet here at work, following one strange link after another - you know how it goes. It's one crazy world out there.

But as I'm sitting here making loads of money (well, depending on how you see it of course, at least loads more than if I'd be out celebrating midsummer and spending it you know) I also decided to get myself a little something (those ladies at my new local post office will get to know me very very soon. Almost have already :).

So I got this little lovely romper!

Let's just hope it will fit over my behind! Or hips (a common problem with items that have legs and not a wide hem). And since it's rather short I might have to take a run or two as I've compensated my lack of exercise with eating pizza (makes sense yes) over the past months.

The only problem with rompers and playsuits are the fact that you basically have to get naked in order to pee. But I can live with that.

My summer starts here

So it's the first day of my sumer holidays; I'm free!

Finally my 17 exams are over (it was official when I tore up my exam timetable into teeny tiny little pieces and also binned all my old notes) and I now have 10 weeks of sunshine ahead of me. Hallelujah!

So to celebrate I am going to have a chilled out afternoon and visit the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize (which I went to last year and loved so I bet there will be even more amazing new talent there this year) and then this evening I am going to my best friends' joint fancy dress birthday party, which is 'Under The Sea' themed. I am going as a mermaid. Don't ask me how that is going to work- I am hoping that with my new Topshop maxi dress and with Xanthe May's genius MAC and hair crimping skills I'm going to look good.

(Might even post some photos tomorrow if you're lucky)

And hopefully because I have all this time off I can get around to a lot more blogging, checking out my favourites, finding new ones and posting lots more.

Because I don't have a "friday night social agenda" I'll be front of the tube.
